York, WA
York Lawn Tennis Club is based in York, the oldest inland town in Western Australia, gazetted in 1831 and home to a magnificent collection of Victorian-era architecture along its main street. The "Lawn" designation is well-earned: the club retains traditional grass courts alongside synthetic grass, preserving a surface tradition that dates to the club's early history in the nineteenth century. York is about 97 kilometres east of Perth in the Avon Valley, and the club competes in the Avon Valley district competition alongside Northam, Toodyay, and Cunderdin.
