Introducing Season Builder: Run a Whole Club Season From One Screen

Running a club competition or pennant side means grades, teams, fixtures, availability chasing, duty rosters, and results to type up every week. Season Builder is the coordinator's command centre that turns all of that into a few guided screens.

Deuce has the hard hat on, because running a club season is a build job, and the tool you build it with should not be a spreadsheet held together with hope.

If you have ever run a club competition or a pennant side, you know the drill: grades, teams, a fixture grid, availability chasing, duty rosters, and results that someone has to type up every week. Season Builder is the coordinator's command centre that turns all of that into a few guided screens.

What it is

Season Builder is the tool club coordinators use to set up and run a whole competition. You create the season, build the grades and teams, generate the fixtures, assign round duties, and manage results, all from one place. Players never see the machinery, they just get a clean season and round pages that look after themselves.

How it works

  • Structure first. Set up the season, its grades, and the teams in each, then let the fixtures generate from there.
  • Fixtures and rounds. Build the schedule of rounds and matches without drawing a single grid by hand.
  • Duties and availability. Assign round duties and let players mark availability, so captains are not chasing "are you in this week?" by text all term.
  • Results that flow. Captains submit results, ladders recalculate, and stat boards update, with no central spreadsheet to maintain.

How to use it

  1. Open /season-builder (it is visible to club coordinators and admins).
  2. Create the season and lay out its grades and teams.
  3. Generate the fixtures and assign the round duties.
  4. Let it run. Players mark availability, captains submit results, and the ladders and stats take care of themselves.

Season Builder or Tournaments?

Different scale, different tool. Tournaments is for a comp you run for a group, a draw that resolves in a day or a term. Season Builder is for the full club competition: multiple grades, teams, a fixture that runs all season, the pennant-style structure. If you are coordinating a club's official season, this is the one. For the background on the format itself, see our guide to running a club season online.

Why we built it

Club competitions run on the goodwill of one or two volunteers who quietly do an enormous amount of admin. Most of it is mechanical: building draws, chasing availability, typing up scores, recalculating ladders. That work is exactly what software is good at. Season Builder hands the busywork to the app so the coordinator can get back to the part that actually needs a human, and the season runs without anyone burning out keeping a spreadsheet alive.
